At a plenary meeting of the chamber on March 20, 2024, deputies of the Mazhilis started working on a draft law that introduces a ban on participation in gambling for individuals included in the unified register of debtors, a Zakon.kz correspondent reports.
This norm is included in the draft law “On introducing amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on issues of gambling, lotteries and lottery activities.”
Deputies started working on it with accompanying amendments to the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offences.
“The bills were initiated by deputies of Parliament in pursuance of the instructions of the Head of State to adopt a set of legislative measures to combat gambling addiction among the population. The main innovations in the bill are the introduction of a ban on participation in gambling for individuals included in the unified register of debtors. We are also considering tightening the requirements for placement and distribution of advertisements of bookmakers and betting shops, as well as a ban on the Internet resources of unlicensed foreign bookmakers and betting shops,” said deputy Askhat Aimagambetov.
