A 53-year-old resident of Shymkent is suspected of beating his wife and three-month-old daughter. The incident became known on the evening of August 3.
The city Police Department confirmed the information that had previously been circulated on social networks: "A criminal case has been opened on this fact. The suspect has been placed in custody. A forensic medical examination has been ordered, and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway."
The Commissioner for Children's Rights in Kazakhstan, Dinara Zakiyeva, took this case under personal control. She noted that the man is accused of intentionally causing grievous and minor bodily harm.
"The woman is in a medical facility, and the child is in the intensive care unit of a children's hospital. I am aware of this situation, and am in touch with the victim. We are dealing with the hospital issue. We are finding out the details of the situation. An investigation is underway," Zakiyeva said.
