Punishment Unveiled for Man Who Attacked Children in Almaty Elevator

An Almaty resident was sentenced to 100 hours of community service.

The Auezov District Court of Almaty considered a criminal case against a man who beat two minors.

On the evening of July 23, boys knocked on the door of an Almaty resident's apartment. When the owner opened the door, they ran into the elevator, trying to escape. The man followed them and kicked the children in the legs several times in the elevator.

The court reported that the defendant admitted his guilt and repented.

"By court verdict, N. was found guilty under Article 109-1, part 2, clause 1.8 of the Criminal Code ("Beating or committing other violent acts that caused physical pain, but did not result in minor bodily harm") and was sentenced to 100 hours of community service," the court's press service reported.

The court verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

The NeMolchi.kz Foundation published a video of the incident. The foundation clarified that the children are 10 years old.
